Stand-up hydrofoil board?

Beitrag von mikkelfp » Mi 4. Apr 2007, 12:12

Hi!

I'm from denmark. I saw the billabong Odyssey dvd and now I want one of the stand-up foil boards. It could be pretty cool on the beach this summer instead of a wakeboard. I have been doing a lot of surfing, wakesurfing and wakeboarding, so why not take it to the next level.

Do any of you guys know where I can buy a stand-up hydrofoil board? I asked the guy from footer.de and he said I sould try here.

Are there any shops in europe who sells these boards? Maybe in germani?

Do you think I can make a hydrofoil board? So I can tjeck if its any fun before i buy. The boards is pretty expensive. It will cost me like $2000 to get one of the Rush Randle boards to Denmark. I have only seen them in this Maui surfshop: http://www.neilprydemaui.com/category.php?id=8

I hope somebody can help. :/

Thanks guys.

Hot & Tom: How much for the foilboards?

Will it be enough to buy only the foil fin and no board? And then I can maybe mount it on an old surfboard or wakeboard? I talked to a guy from a surfshop today. He said he had friend who bought a foil fin from australia. He just mouted the foilfin on different things like surfboards and windsurfboards.

Is it possible to just buy the foil fin?

Tom the foilboard on the picture - is it just an skyski with no chair?

yes this ist a SkySki. The board is from sit down hydrofoil. This Board is more stronger than all standup Boards. This is a convertible Ski, you can mount the tower and bindings on it and then use it as sit down hydrofoil (you need the tower and adjustable binding from SkySki). I rode this stand up foil 3-5 Time. The price is 1300,- EUR (it is like new) with used Klicker Bindings/Boots.

Hi,

Tom do you have some pictures of the foilfin alone? So I can see how to mount it on a wakeboard. I saw Laird hamilton did with a skyski fin, a wakeboard and snowboard bindings with boots. Tjeck it out here: http://www.broadbandsports.com/node/991

Hot, yeah that would be cool if you would upload some pictures.

here is a pic from SkySki Foil. On the SkySki Foilboard is the t-Bar a little shorter. The T-bar is with screws fixed in the adaptor plate. The plate is fixed mit screws in the board. Altogether a clean and stable construction. You can weld a plate to the top of t-bar, and the plate with screws fixed to the board. You need for the Foilboarding Snowboard Boots no wakeboarding Boots!, I use Klicker Boots und Bindings. Foilboarding is very easy to learn.

I build my first foilboard in 2000 with wakeboard und wakeboard boots. With wakeboard boots is a foilboard unrideable. You need snowboard boots. A short t-bar is easy to ride. A wakeboard or kiteboard is OK, but you can break it.

Do I need to make a hole in the board?

you buy a complete SS PRO Foil, you make the t-bar a little shorter, You weld a plate to the top of t-bar, you mount the plate to the wakeboard.
